I Do, I do   -   26th, 27th February 2009

Into Sondheim, in association with
Chaplin Theatre Arts
present "I Do, I Do" - the story of two people who have taken that most important step - marriage.

The Into Sondheim creative team directing the musical are Dianna Moylan (Director) and David Meek (Musical Director); thanks to the association with Chaplin Theatre Arts, two specialist dancers have developed their own new routines for the show under the professional care of Alli Coyne (Choregrapher).

We follow the ups and downs of Agnes and Michael, with love shining through all the smiles and tears in an extra-special performance from the husband and wife team of Deborah and Garry Winder. After the pre-show Champagne reception, we are invited into the bedroom of newlyweds Michael & Agnes who anticipate a wonderful blissful life"Together Forever" as one of the early musical selections would have us believe. As we all know, reality sets in as the young couple struggle to maintain their happiness, passion, devotion and yes even a sense of humour, through all the joys, pains, trials and tribulations that they share in their 50 years of marriage.

This show was the first two-person musical ever performed on Broadway starring Mary Martin and Robert Preston, written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the creative duo behind The Fantasticks and 110 In the Shade.

The best way to describe this story is through the titles of the songs. "I Love My Wife", Something Has Happened", Love Isn't Everything", "Flaming Agnes", The Honeymoon Is Over", "My Cup Runneth Over", "When the Kids Get Married ", What Is A Woman?", "Some One Needs Me", "Roll Up the Ribbons" and "This House". All in all it is a remarkably intimate, romantic piece.

The Usher Theatre is a new venue within the new Arts Centre at Leon School & Sports College; it is ideally suited for such an intimate show but the number of tickets available is limited. Tickets purchased in advance are priced at £9.00 (£7.00 concessions) or £10 on the door. To book call 01908 310742 or Contact Us
